Avoiding Issues Won’t Make Them Avoid You

By: Tann Moore

You know how we put things off we don’t want to deal with once we learn all the details of the matter?  You know how that thing we put off is always there waiting for us the next day, week, year or decade?  Just sitting there patiently waiting where we left it.

I saw The Last Airbender* this week and this topic stood out for me.  The Avatar, master of bending (manipulating) all the earth’s elements, learned the details of his destiny and ran away.  I won’t tell you the details of what happened when he ran away because I hope you’ll see for yourself, but when he finally returns to his fate it’s still there waiting for him.  Only now it’s demanding that he deal with it immediately or the world will be irrevocably affected.

Your destiny is waiting for you.  For some of you that is good news and bad news, but it is reality.  If the representation of a superhero avoids his destiny then you know this is a common thing to do.  However, the longer you put it off, the longer it will take you to get to your purpose on the planet.  Could it be you are running from yourself forgetting that, “Wherever you go, there you are?”  Maybe you are running because you think you can’t live up to the responsibility of your destiny.  A wise writer once said:

“A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men” (Prov. 18:16)

See you after the show.
